The Disability Employment Adviser (DEA), and Occupational Psychologist (OP) are part of the Employment Service and mostly based in Jobcentres. They can offer specialist help and advice to deaf people to help them gain or retain employment.
You will initially have an in depth interview with your DEA to talk about:
- Your aims and interests
- Any previous work experience and education
- Any areas of concern about your work you can do
If necessary you may have a further assessment with an Occupational Psychologist:
- You may be asked to complete some practical tasks or written work. You will only need to do these if you and your DEA or Occupational Psychologist think they will be a useful part of your assessment
- Activities you complete in your assessment will be similar to activities done in different types of work
If you want any further information about employment assessment please contact the DEA in your local Jobcentre
