Using a hearing aid is not always the complete answer to hearing impairment.
People with good hearing find it easier to follow a conversation if they can see the face of the speaker.
This is because a great deal of information is in a lip pattern and facial expression and when hearing is
lost this skill becomes more important.
Learning to lip read in a class provides the opportunity to practice lip-reading and also picking up clues
from the face and body language, i.e. a smile, shrug of the shoulders, frowning can all speak volumes.
Lip reading classes are friendly and all people attending often share the same experiences. The tutor is fully
qualified and understands the problems associated with hearing loss.
Husbands, wives or other members of the family or friends are welcome to come too if they wish.
